Ignite! 2017 Art Grant Recipients

Here are your art grant recipients for 2017:

Elemental Cloth

Artist: Lisa Mitchell

Fiber art refers to fine art whose material consists of natural or synthetic fiber and other components, such as fabric or yarn. It focuses on the materials and on the manual labor on the part of the artist as part of the work’s significance, and prioritizes aesthetic value over utility. A mobile is a type of kinetic sculpture constructed to take advantage of the principle of equilibrium. This work seeks to combine the two elements, creating an interactive fiber art installation.

Glowing Flowers Petting Zoo

Artist: Erin Barry-Dutro

Did you ever imagine that flowers could respond to your presence? Well, now they REALLY do! Come touch our glowing blossoms and see how they react!

Illuminous Plumes

Artist: Whimsy, Molly, Alexis Elaina

All hail the almighty, the magnificent, the all-enlightened goddess of the peacock wonder clan! This giant free-standing sculpture/mural is full of radiant color and delicate contrasts through the day, and is a shining and glittering beacon of light through the darkened hours. Part free-standing mural, part sculpture, and part light show, this project takes its inspiration from the on-location oh-so-vocal peacocks, and adds some extra color and light to the magical ethos of Combustia.

Pathway of Fae

Artist: Whimsy

A Wayfarer wanders quietly through the woods, and suddenly happens on what can only be the entrance to the land of the Faerie folk. Softly pulsating rainbows of light emit from delicate leaves that float in the air surrounding the path. This illuminated foliage gently lights the way, inviting the adventurer to pause a while to bathe in its magical light before continuing on; a moment of respite and peace amidst the wild rumpus of Combustia.

Wish Jars

Artist: Regina Twine

Wishes Grow! Sometimes writing down your wishes helps them come true. I want to create small jars full of dreams and fun. Write a dream or a wish and plant it in a jar of your choosing. Find a small thing to remind you of your time at Ignite? Add it to your jar. Take a bit of Ignite home with you. Don’t want to sit around and make a terrarium? Feel free to drop your wish in our large wish jar at DAMM Camp. They will be taken home and planted.
